Rengaya @ North Sydney

After my office moved to North Sydney, we first had lunch all together for a whole department. That was first time I know " Rengaya " where is 5 mins walk from my office.

This is my second time here as one of my workmate who left the company. I would like to treat a meal before she leaves, and not that hard to make a decision where I would like to take her out for lunch.

Definitely " Rengaya " as I have read a lot from blogger & reviews after first trial. They are owned by I's Holding and are managing six restaurants and have classified these restaurants into 3 classes

Rengaya -High class fine dining
Suminoya -Stylish, sophisticated modern feeling
Kohya -Comfortable, easy enjoyable feeling

You may know " Menya at China Town ", they are a part of I's group as well as classified - Modern Ramen restaurant, the best traditional Japanese Ramen noodles.

Special Business Lunch Box $29.95

Consist of Assorted Sashimi ( They are very fresh, generously slice piece), Sushi ( I didnt have them), Chicken Tempura, Cold Prawn Salad & side salad ( They are so good, tatse great )

Yakiniku Lunch Box $29.95

Yakiniku is a cooking style in which fresh, seasoned ingredients such as meat, seafood and vegetables are placed on a mesh and grilled over a direct flame.

What a Beef !!!
Absolutely delicious!, lovely colourful pictures of marbled beef. You won't find any better beef than this in Australia.

" Melt in Mouth "

If you are a beef lover, you wont miss it though.

There is only Oyster come with Yakiniku set, and I had it. OH MY GOD, It is my first time that I could feel, oyster is soo sweet.... Im in heaven ^_^

Salad is as a compliment, they are great and go well with meat really.

I've got to say, Rengayas lunch menu I find extremely good value for money. You get what you pay. The food is always fresh and delicious.

For dinner, I have a look the menu and it is a bit pricey. BUT as I said " You get what you Pay " then I believe that thier dinner menu / BBQ dishes are ~$30 ++ ( for a small portion ) only because Wagyu is expensive stuff. Their premium steaks would cost close to $200/kg

So really $30 is a fair price to pay. If you compare it to steakhouses, you get an Angus for $50, which is nowhere near as tender as Wagyu.

If I need to give a score for Rengaya, it will be 10/10

Taste of Shanghai World Square I

My building is 5 mins walk to World Sqaure, and I walk pass "Tatse of Shanghai" many times. They are always busy, especially dining time.

I had Citizenship ceremony on that day, and I had appointment with Ja to dine out together as Ping was on holiday in Thailand and Tan visited his girlfriend in Japan.

We were very excited and waiting for 30 mins to get a table.

Shanghai pan fried pork buns (8 pieces) $9.80

While we were waiting for a table, we observed inside the restaurant that every table would order them. But we thought that would be too much as we were 2 girls.
Anyway we ordered it !!

Oh, it was so good. Soup come out of the 1st bite. I had 3, Ja had 4 and 1 left takeaway for Ja.
"Incredible"

Chilli beef in wok $18.8
Beef dish was good but it was huge. We couldnt finish it and half of them was a takeaway for next day ^_^

Braised pork belly and preserved veggetable $18.80
I love this dish, bit oily but taste was perfect. Personally I like Pork belly dish anyway, it was soo good to me. If you have it with nice, I am in haven.

I didn't know what make me order this. We were so full and couldnt finish any dishes. I had a look from the menu and look Yummy. But It felt like they are tastless.

Chicken Crispy serve in bamboo basket

It is my second time within a month for " Taste of Shanghai ", this resturant changed my mind of Chinese food, as I always thought that chinese food is all about oyster sauce, very oily dishes.

We first started with Chicken basket, it was so good, crispy, tasty and garnish with fired garlic and shallot.
Szechuan style shredded pork & golden buns

This was an interesting dish that I hadn’t come across before. What you had to do was stuff the pork in the bun, which had a hole at the bottom.

When you upside down, here is a hole.

Live Mud Crab with vermicelli

This dish was so huge, waitress came over to our table with Mud Crab. We were in shock as it was still moving, and it was big as weigh around almost 1 kg.
I am always having a trouble with crab, actually lazy to get crabmeat out of the shell, I had a lot of vermicelli. ^_^

Three people Three dishes, seem too much as we were too full. Dishes are all huge, if you are 3 girls, 2 dishes still enough.

Overall was great and impressive, just a bit pricy.

Here we are, I, Ja and Tan. As Tan come back from Japan and had dinner here. Tan gave us a box of Tokyo Banana & Toy ^_^
